The Jam Packs need to be installed by an installer - they do three things:
- Instruments Symphony Orchestra
- Garageband Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack Free
- Garageband Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack Torrent
For the record, I've been very happy with Jam Pack 4 - Symphony Orchestra. I've been able to easily construct some convincing sound track clips. It's almost overwhelming just listening through all the loops and instruments that come with GarageBand. Each Jam Pack ($99) contains an addition 2000 loops, plus more instruments!
- Install additional loops in the loop library
- Update the loop index
- Install instruments in the Instruments Library.
GarageBand Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra - box pack - 1 user overview and full product specs on CNET. Jam Pack:Symphony Orchestra/Boldt Packages. By itself, GarageBand is great fun! But GarageBand can do a whole lot more if it has the musical instruments of a symphony orchestra. It is Jam Pack:Symphony Orchestra and the Boldt Packages which makes GarageBand useful for filmmakers to create simple but effective film scores for their motion pictures. The Apple GarageBand Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra is yet another Jam Pack that Apple has released to help extend the usage of GarageBand, their beginner DAW. The Symphony Orchestra contains various different loops of all kinds of different instruments you’d expect to find in a standard orchestra. This includes pianos, trumpets, tubas, harps. The Apple Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra puts the instruments of the symphony at your command! Build orchestral themes using over 2000 prerecorded loops in different styles and tempos, including symphonic, chamber, and solo performances. You can also use the loops and samples in this sound collection individually to enhance songs in any genre.
What JamPack do you want to install? Some of the installers do no longer run on Mac OS X 10.7 or later, for the installers contain PowerPC appliclations.
If you have Jam Pack loops, add them to the System Library in /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple
see: GarageBand, Logic: Where loops get installed
I have the following folders there:
Apple Loops for GarageBand | Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra |
Jam Pack 1 | Jam Pack Voices |
Jam Pack Remix Tools | Jam Pack World Music |
Jam Pack Rhythm Section | iLife Sound Effects |
The instruments need to be copied to
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library
You should see these folders there:
Plug-In Settings | Sampler | Track Settings |
After installing rebuild the Loop Index: Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand
Instruments Symphony Orchestra
To get all JamPacks installed on Mt. Lion, the easiest solution would be to buy Mainstage 2 from the AppStore - this will install all five JamPacks, so that they can be used with GarageBand or Logic. The price for Mainstage is much lower than the price for a single JamPack used to be.

Garageband Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack Torrent
But otherwise, some of my software instruments don't work.
I have GarageBand and the Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack installed. What will happen is that I'll create a new track, select one of the brass or woodwind instruments, and open the 'musical typing' window where I can play the notes. The problem is that when I play them, there is no sound. I'm tapping the keys and no sound is coming out. If I select a different instrument such as the grand piano, it works fine. It's only SOME of the Symphony Orchestra instruments (and the instruments which don't work change as well. I.e. - one minute the horns arent working, and the next minute they're fine and the woodwind instruments aren't).
Other than this the system/software runs perfectly.
I've taken some shots of something I've noticed that's different between the instruments that do and don't work. See below a picture of the details box which comes up to the bottom-right of your screen when you select an instrument (that is working!);

But this is what comes up for the instruments that aren't working;

Notice that under 'Instrument Generator' it says 'None', whereas in the first picture it had details. Also the drop down menu doesn't contain anything useful, and the colours have all changed to grey.
Any help would be much appreciated, as the Apple forums haven't been much use thus far!
